Work hard, play hard

Physical Fitness
Running, Biking, and Strength Training
As a high school athlete playing soccer, I began running to support my capabilities on the field. My love of soccer turned into a life-long love of running. When my high school career ended, I took up long-distance running and entered into a few races. First, I tackled the 5K (3 miles) distance, then advanced to the 10K (6 miles), and finally, ended up completing numerous half-marathons and 3 full marathons. My best marathon time was 3:52.
After a few injuries, I incorporated cycling into my regimen. This has become my new passion. Cycling has allowed me to explore the very hilly country roads of Hunterdon County.
Hiking
Finding balance with nature
Too much time indoors or too much time exposed to noise, technology, etc., can leave me feeling worn down and unfocused. To counter those feelings, I often spend time in nature. Research has shown that we can be more productive when we spend time turning into ourselves and "forest bathing" in nature.
I have hiked many of New Jersey and Pennsylvania's beautiful trails, including portions of the Appalachian Trail. I have also vacationed in areas and have taken the time to enjoy nature. This included hiking in Hawaii. Kauai's Na Pali Coast has breathtaking views and jaw-dropping cliffs to the ocean and remains my overall most favorite hike. Local trails and hikes are also exquisite and provide much-needed nature relief.

Indoor Gardening
If you visited my home you would find a plant in every room. Plants help purify our air and rid our living spaces of airborne toxins. I love caring for and nurturing plants both indoors and outdoors in my yard. Plants provide a softness to a home. I also have a profound love for the beauty of flowers. Some of my favorite indoor plants are Fiddle Leaf Fig, any succulents, and the Norfolk Island Pine tree.
Kayaking
Gliding through nature
Usually on the Delaware River, or on a local reservoir, kayaking gives me of an opportunity to experience relaxation in nature. Spotting wildlife or just catching rays, kayaking helps me de-stress and recharge for the upcoming week. I have had the wonderful experience of seeing a few bald eagles on the water. The bridge pictured is the Riegelsville, Pennsylvania bridge from the middle of the Delaware River.

Reading
Escaping into a literal world
Another true pleasure of mine is reading. Literary worlds, both fiction and nonfiction, are an escape from reality. Time spent between the spines is time spent imagining, dreaming, and reaching beyond our 2-dimensional world.
